Jewel Box Facelift
This sweet little family ski cabin needed the works, and received just that.

Mismatched gable ends, quirky porch siding, dried out logs, rot repair...this 50-year-old vacation cabin got a much-needed facelift.

Discussing the project with our client. We pride ourselves on accessibility and communication, believing it's the baseline for any service industry.

Years and years of neglect left this lovely cabin with no protection.

Before, showing the greyed logs and flat siding at the gable ends and sections of the porch.

Before, showing log rot on the first course that we ultimately fixed.

Before. There is some log rot on these ends where we used epoxy strength and protection.

Giving it a fresh new start with media blasting (crushed glass).

What a difference a blast makes!

We replaced the original porch siding vignettes with hand hewn logs to match, cutting logs down to siding on-site. They blended in perfectly.

We replaced the mismatched gable ends with beautiful wavy edge cedar, honoring the rustic nature of this mountain jewel box.

Installing wavy edge siding.

We love how the siding turned out.

Here's a look at the other gable end. We also enlarged the height of the porch windows for a bit more light.

All done!

Completed.

We cleaned and stained three outbuildings to match, as well, including this sleeping cabin, a utility shed, and a firewood shelter.

We used Sashco Colorfast, Capture in a blend of colors, and Cascade. Now this sweet little Northeast retreat has a new lease on life.
